Darwen Leisure Centre due to be replace by a £9 million development

Darwen Liberal Democrats have welcomed the news that Darwen Leisure Centre is to be replaced by a new £9 million Centre. They are concerned that some of the existing facilities may not be retained.

Cllr. Karimeh Foster, who has meetings with Council Officers and users said," Darwen people welcome the improvement to these facilities and the swimming pool will be much better, however we want to retain some of the other facilities that may be lost such as the Sauna and Jacuzzi that are both well used. Labour have been spreading false rumours that we are against this development. We are not but we want it to serve the needs of our current users and attract even more, if we lose some of these facilities it will not be as good a centre as it could be."
