Labour Government take from the poor and give to the rich.
Thu 15th Feb 2007
The Labour government have decided to take away £4.5 million from Blackburn with Darwen Council and give to richer areas who do not deserve it. Liberal Democrat Leader on the Council, David Foster said, "The government have decided that because we are a deprived area we need more money. This means taking money away from "wealthier" areas. The government want to cushion the blow to these areas and therefore have decided not to give us the full amount and give some of it back to these richer areas. Local Council Tax Payers are having to foot the bill. If the government paid us what they say we need we could cut the Council Tax by 10%"

"Liberalism in Britain has lost a great champion, the Liberal Democrats, a great advocate and our public life, a great servant. "
Lord Paddy Ashdown
In memory of Lord Richard Holme, who died on 5 May
"If the Tories want to claim that they are going to cut corporation tax, they have to come clean about how they are going to pay for it. Cutting the main rate of corporation tax to 25% will cost more than £5bn a year. If David Cameron is to have a hope of sounding credible he must state clearly where the money will come from. Otherwise this will be seen as yet another unfunded tax cut. "
